Community's Muscio Honored
ALEXANDRIA, VA .... The Health Ethics Trust today announced that Debra Muscio, CCE, Chief Audit and Compliance Officer at Community Medical Centers in Fresno, California, will be named a Fellow of the Trust at this year's Healthcare Compliance Best Practices Forum on October 24 & 25 in Washington, D.C. Mark Pastin, President of the Trust, said, "CCO Fellows are nominated by members of their organizations or by their peers and selected by the Best Practices Committee based on their sustained contribution to ethics and compliance. Debra has long been recognized not only for her commitment to ethics and compliance, but also for her unselfish service to the compliance community."
The Health Ethics Trust established the Healthcare Compliance Best Practices Forum in 1995 as a peer review process to recognize compliance achievements in healthcare organizations. Soon after the Forum was established, it became apparent that not only should best practices be recognized; individuals who have shaped healthcare compliance should also be recognized. Since then, the title of Fellow of the Health Ethics Trust has become the highest honor available to a CCO.
Ms. Musicio was nominated for this award by a peer compliance officer to whom She provided substantial assistance. This award recognizes her leadership not only at Community Medical Centers but also in her previous role as Chief Audit and Compliance Officer at the Central Connecticut Health Alliance. In that role, she authored a Best Compliance Practice on the topic of quarterly management reporting that is the single most referenced best practice since the Forum was established. She is continuing her work by helping Community Medical Centers achieve it goal of compliance excellence.
Pastin commented, "Debra has long been considered by her peers to be one of the best compliance officers in the country. I have always been personally amazed at how much Debra can get done with the resources at hand. Debra is a tireless worker with the ability to inspire others. She has helped me any number of times and I am glad that Debra has finally been named a Fellow of the Trust."
